Statement from the artist: “At 5ft by 7.5ft, this is definitely the largest piece I’ve ever done. The client, a family in the Bay Area, wanted a specific coastline of Hilo Bay, Hawaii. The mother’s family is from there, and she spent her summers visiting, spending time with Grandma and her Uncle, surfing, relaxing. Now she and her husband take their kids there in the summer to continue the tradition, and remind them of their heritage. Ohana means family, and the 18 tributaries are rivers that come down from the Big Island mountains to join the sea.” (Part of a Private Collection in Lafayette, California)
