Here’s a bit about our name and story:

The obvious point - the name serves a geolocation purpose. We’re easy to find at the intersection of Bowery and Prince Street, right in the heart of Nolita.

“Bowery” comes from the Dutch word “bouwerie” which means farm. This area used to be all farmland when it was New Amsterdam. We love how our name combines the royal and the pastoral - it reflects our mission to create and display art that has organic and natural elements but also has a chic, regal touch.

And most importantly, the gallery’s owners, Drew and Clay, named their two cats after kings - Arthur and Solomon. After moving to Prince Street, they started jokingly calling themselves “Princes” as a playful nod to their subjugation to their royal pets. The kings approved, and Bowery Princes was born.
