Here’s a bit about our name and story:

Years prior to the gallery, owners Drew and Clay named their two cats after kings - Arthur and Solomon. After they all moved to Prince Street, the humans started jokingly referring to these two feline kings as "Princes" of Prince St. The two furry royals accepted their demotion with regal grace, and Bowery Princes was born.

As a helpful sidenote, the name also serves a geolocation purpose. We’re easy to find at 7 Prince Street, just off Bowery, right in the heart of Nolita. New York has so few streets that aren't numbers, so we decided to really run with it.

"Bowery" comes from the Dutch word "bouwerie," which means farm. This area used to be all farmland when it was New Amsterdam. We love how our name combines the royal and the pastoral - it reflects our mission to create and display art that has organic and natural elements, but also has a chic, elevated touch.

Come explore our gallery. We hope you find something that speaks to you, inspires you, or delights you.
